I have used dreamhost for over 3 years now and on the few occasions that I have needed to use the tech support they have been great, very helpful and even followed up to make sure the issue was resolved to my satisfaction.

They are not the cheapest host out there but I think you pay for what you get, give them a try and see for yourself just how good they are.

Bluehost has been providing affordable and to an extent reliable web hosting for nearly six years now. I still remember my earlier days with Bluehost when pricing was higher and host had quite a number of bleeps, going down often. But with time bluehost has matured itself into a promising host where i feel safer to host my web sites now. I wonder how come they offer hosting dirt cheap when competitors charge plenty for similar quality of hosting and support.

I congratulate bluehost for fighting those hard times and surviving the competition to provide best hosting to its customers.

Not many people would know of Godaddy.com as a web host. It surprised me also a couple of years back when i would have impression of it being a domain registrar only. Anyways, Godaddy offers whole lot of services ranging from domain to web hosting and i must confess that services are priced evenly to tempt the customer. I had enrolled into web hosting with them for a deluxe plan some time back and for the four months i stayed with them, i found support to be excellent. Uptime was understandeably high, definitely not 100% but close to 99.5%, something i contend with.

I introduced some of my friends to Godaddy and they were happy too with the quality of support. I did have some problem using SSL certificate on their server but other than that, i was pleased with what i got. In a world where a new webhost is born every other day and equal number perish, Godaddy has maintained itself with quality and quantity of hosting.

Lunar pages is a very reliable web host and response time is pretty quick as well. They are quick to respond to the tickets as well.

One drawback with Lunarpages is that, they still give you an old cPanel version (as far as I know) and it is very difficult if you got used to some of the newer versions...

000webhost is a nice free webhosting service.
You get enough space for your files (1500MB).
You can add your own domain to the site with their Name Servers.
They got their own panel. It is pretty nice for a free hosting site.
I can tell it is better than many paid hostings.
There is just some bad things about 000webhost that is:
The site is sometimes slow.
The hosted subdomains/domains is also slow some times.
The PHPmyAdmin is also slow some times.
The problem with 000webhost is that its slow some times and wont connect and more!
But at all, its a great hosting site!

The upside is HostMonster is a good sized company that specializes in offering low cost hosting. They are large enough to allow 24 / 7 support, stable servers with fast response times and good throughput. They are good at what they focus on.

The downside, as with so many other hosts, they mislead people with their unlimited hosting plans. I have personally had my service turned off because inserts in my database were taking too long on a site that serves less than 50,000 pages in a month. There are reports of HostMonster disabling accounts for other 'infractions' such as too much bandwidth and hard drive space being used.

HostMonster is a great service for smallish sites that are not growing quickly. Expect reliable, quick and responsive servers, good support and low prices but be prepared to move a site that may become popular.
